Traditionally, the father of the groom has to deliver a brief speech for the bride and the groom during the reception of the wedding. For the first part of your speech, what you have to do is to make sure that you include words of thanks for all the people who found to the time to be there at the wedding. Once you are done thanking your guests, a great idea for proceeding with your speech would be to share brief anecdotes about your son as he was growing up. Take a look at this example: 'As I stand her before you, images of my son as a little boy flood my mind. Today, I have the image of my son as a man, off to embark on a new journey with his beautiful wife, and that makes me proud as his father.'

'And so, this I say to my son, the groom, and his wife – congratulations! To my daughter-in-law, it was wonderful getting to know you. I am happy because I know how lucky our son is to have you for a wife. We formally welcome you into our family.'

'My wish to the both of you is that you\'ll have a great life together – with a dozen kids to keep you busy and a bright future to boot. To that and more, I propose a toast. To the bride and the groom, ladies and gentlemen!'
